Rio Secco's T-Mate caddie program has been a big hit with golfersLas Vegas, Nevada (July 27, 2010)–Rio Secco Golf Club, a Rees Jones design which opened its doors in 1997, has been drawing rave reviews ever since. This Las Vegas golf course, which stretches out to around 7,400 yards for an ultimate test, also has a feature which will fit many golfers to a ‘T’—as in the T-Mates caddie program.—By Bill Bowman

The T-Mates program features lovely female caddies. But, they are more than just pretty faces. What you’re getting are high-profile caddies who will help you enjoy your round on this stunning course from start to finish. They greet the players at the door, help with registration and assist wherever needed. They have been well-trained and know Rio Secco well. And that’s a good thing, especially for those playing the course for the first time. There’s nothing worse than hitting a shot and then finding your ball in a bunker you didn’t know was there. With the T-Mates, you’ll know shot distances, have someone to clean clubs, rake bunkers, fix divots and ball marks on the green…everything caddies normally handle. And they’ll do it all with a smile and an outgoing personality.

“Every comment card and guest interaction I’ve seen in the time we’ve had the program is that the ladies have added to the round,” said Mark Blais, Director of Golf Sales and Marketing. “We started in 2006 as, basically, a course concierge program. We just wanted to make sure all the needs of our guests were met…pace of play, lunch, ordering drinks. But it evolved into a caddie program when guests commented they really wanted more course knowledge…more caddie, less sex-appeal.”

He also recommends booking early, especially in prime seasons. “The girls just do a wonderful job for the golfers,” Blais said. “They add a lot to the round…positive attitudes and energy. They also complement that with course knowledge, strategy and etiquette. We’ve had caddies from other courses as guests and they’ve given us positive feedback that, tee to green, the T-Mates are as good as any caddies out there.
