Las Vegas, Nevada (August 3, 2010)–Las Vegas' Bali Hai Golf Club is one of three Las Vegas golf courses operated by Walters Golf. Each is a themed Las Vegas golf course and you never know who you might see playing. Just last week it was former NBA stars John Starks and Greg Anthony, along with ex-Major League Baseball star Kenny Lofton who played Bali Hai on the morning of Anthony's benefit poker tournament. The three are avid golfers and play golf in Las Vegas whenever they can, but Anthony says there are several reasons they love Bali Hai.–By Brian Hurlburt.
"Playing golf with friends in Las Vegas is always great, and I have played Bali Hai several times," says Anthony, a member of the 1990 NCAA Championship team while at hometown UNLV. "I think Bali Hai is one of the best choices you can have in Las Vegas, especially given the location right on the Strip and the condition and quality of the course. If you need a course close to your hotel, this is the spot. Also, the par 3, 16th hole over water is beautiful and one of my favorites. I know both Kenny and John had a wonderful time and we look forward to a return." Starks and Anthony were teammates for several years while playing for the New York Knicks. Lofton played for both the Cleveland Indians and Atlanta Braves during a long career. He was also a point guard for the University of Arizona basketball team, a rival of UNLV, before turning to baseball full-time.
Bali Hai Golf Club brings tropical golf from the South Pacific to the Las Vegas Strip and features lagoon-like water holes, hundreds of palm trees, and large and wide fairways. A beautiful clubhouse features a patio and Cili Restaurant, a spot that has become a place for the who's who of Las Vegas to eat lunch. Anthony grew up in Las Vegas before enrolling at UNLV and leading the school to the first national championship in basketball. Anthony played for the legendary Jerry Tarkanian, and was the heart and soul of a team that won it all in 1990 and then lost in the finals in 1991. UNLV blew out Duke by 30 in the '90 title game and then lost a close one in the final the next year. Anthony overcame a broken jaw in 1990, coming back just days after the injury. Anthony then had a long career in the NBA playing for the Knicks, Trailblazers, and Bulls among other teams. He is now one of the lead college basketball analysts for CBS Sports.
