PGA Tour’s Rickie Fowler Is Now a Former Las Vegas Golfer

Las Vegas, Nevada (March 26, 2011)–We broke the news that Rickie Fowler was no longer living in Las Vegas last fall, but thought we might just update the news on this matter. Fowler has become just one of many PGA Tour players to make Jupiter, Florida, home. In the process, he left the Las Vegas Golf Region behind. The good news: Fowler left but word is that former UNLV 4-time All-American and PGA Tour champ Ryan Moore has purchased a new home in Las Vegas, after living in Scottsdale for a time (splitting time between is native state of Washington). "To win here with Mr. Palmer watching would be pretty special," said Fowler after the second round at the Bay Hill Club. "I've won here before in the AJGAs (American Junior Golf Association) and played well here before, and we are in a good spot going into the weekend." Fowler was in a tie for 4th heading into the third round.

The Las Vegas Golf Region, like Jupiter, is a home away from home for golfers on the PGA Tour. PGA Tour pros who are Las Vegas golfers include recent PGA Tour winner Nick Watney, former PGA Tour champions Dean Wilson, Charley Hoffman, Chris Riley, and Bill Lunde among others. Many of these Las Vegas golfers play and practice at the TPC Las Vegas, a PGA Tour-owned Las Vegas golf course that once hosted events on the Champions Tour and PGA Tour. This is how the Orlando Sentinel announced the news that Fowler was moving to Florida when it first happened in November: "Teenage daughter alert: Rickie Fowler is coming to South Florida. The 21-year-old dreamboat and possible PGA Tour rookie of the year is in the process of taking up residence in Jupiter, where he recently bought a house on the Loxahatchee River."

Fowler is originally from Southern California. He grew up racing motorcycles and was spotted attending races while in Las Vegas. Several of his commercials and photo shoots took place in and around Las Vegas when he was spending a lot of time in the city. He also was spotted practicing at both TPC Las Vegas and the private TPC Summerlin, host of the PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Las Vegas' PGA Tour event held each fall. Several Las Vegas golfers are also teed it up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational including Chad Campbell, Kevin Na, Moore, and Alex Cejka, among others.
