Las Vegas, Nevada (May 28, 2011)–It seems like it has been awhile since some Las Vegas golfers on the PGA Tour had a chance to win a tournament. But that could change entering the final rounds of the HP Byron Nelson because Nick Watney and Scott Piercy are well inside the top 10 after two rounds. Watney has been one of the hottest players this PGA Tour season but it's been a bit of a struggle for Piercy. –Staff Report.

"Yeah, I played pretty solid, a few loose shots but that's to be expected I guess in the wind," said Watney following a second-round 68. "Overall I'm pleased and I got a chance on the weekend." Watney is a Las Vegas Golf Region resident who works with Las Vegas' Butch Harmon at Las Vegas golf course Rio Secco. Fellow Las Vegas golf Chris Riley is also lurking near the bottom of the Top 10.

Piercy is lifetime Las Vegas Golf Region resident who has made only two cuts in six chances in 2011. He earned more than $675,000 in 2010. He hit the jackpot several years ago when he won $2 million in the Ultimate Game at Wynn Las Vegas Golf and Country Club.

Watney was the man in black during the second round despite hot temperatures. That wasn't lost on one member of the media who commented that only a guy from the desert would do that. "I figured today would be the coolest day, since I'm teeing off early, so I had to give the hat away sometime," said Watney. Quotes from ASAPSports.com.
