Bear's Best Las Vegas is made up of replica holes from such Nicklaus courses as Cabo Del Sol, PGA West and Castle Pines. Each of the holes stay true to the look and playing style of the originals. Plus, the overall ambiance of the original holes is replicated. For example, there are palm trees on the Cabo holes, pine trees and elevation change on the Castle Pines hole, and black slag in the bunkers on the Old Works hole.
“Because there are so many great courses in Las Vegas, having a course like Bear’s Best is very unique,” Stanfill was quoted as saying when the course was honored by the newspaper. “On the course, you never know what to expect next from this collection of Jack’s designs. What Nicklaus does for players is make the course playable for everyone. Generous fairways give players plenty of room off the tee. But, then the course starts to show its toughness. The bunkering on the course and around the greens is very challenging. But overall, this is a course that everyone can play.”
