Las Vegas, Nevada (July 27, 2011)–We agree that it is very cool to play in a pro or celebrity charity golf tournament. Golfers are paired with a sports or entertainment legend, and the stories of the day will impress their golf buddies for years to come. But this August comes an event where all Las Vegas golfers–local and visiting–can play with a true legend and hero: a member of the U.S. Military. Click now to reserve your spot in the Birdies for the Brave event at Las Vegas' TPC Summerlin which is August 15. –By Brian Hurlburt.

"A PGA TOUR Charities, Inc. program, Birdies for the Brave is a military outreach initiative proudly supported by the PGA TOUR that is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families," reads the official description at BirdiesForTheBrave.com. "Since 2005, the TOUR has joined with PGA TOUR players and corporate partners to raise millions of dollars for military homefront groups that provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of wounded warriors and military families, through fundraising events at TPC clubs nationwide."

TPC Summerin is a private Las Vegas golf course that is the host course for the PGA Tour's Justin Timberlake Shriner's Hospitals for Children Open. The course has been the site for victories by Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Stuart Appleby and several of the game's greatest players. This is your chance for a great day of golf at a prestigious and exclusive course and to support one of the best causes out there. One more added benefit: each golfer receives a free round of golf at TPC Las Vegas, a PGA Tour-owned resort course that is also a past host to Las Vegas' PGA Tour tournament. Other sponsorship levels earn more golf at TPC Summerlin, a trip to Scottsdale and a membership to TPC Las Vegas. Click for the official online entry forms.

Since the program’s inception, Birdies for the Brave has grown to include a variety of military outreach efforts, including Patriots' Outpost military hospitality chalets and military celebrations held during PGA TOUR tournaments; letter-writing campaigns for the troops; the distribution of care packages to troops stationed abroad; and a series of fundraising events conducted at the TOUR’s TPC Network of clubs nationwide – enabling fans, club members, sponsors and the general public the opportunity to participate in charity golf tournaments and other activities that directly benefit military men and women and their families, while at the same time play the same sensational golf courses where the world’s best golfers compete.
