Always Green at Pete Dye’s Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort Because No Overseed

Las Vegas, Nevada (August 1, 2011)–It's always a bummer when you play a golf course in the southwestern part of the United States that is in the overseed process. But that will never be the case in 2011 for Pete Dye's Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort. The three Pete Dye Las Vegas golf courses will not go under overseed and will remain green over the next 90 days. And, best of all, the management of the Paiute is offering special Las Vegas golf rates and deals. Read on for the info. –Staff report and Paiute press release.

The reason there is no overseed is because of the courses’ distinct grass combination of rye and bent, compared to the usual Bermuda style used by desert courses within the southwest region, Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort eliminates the need to overseed while maintaining ideal playing conditions.  The facility is located non-stop on the 95 North and is approximately 20 minutes from both downtown Las Vegas and Summerlin. Paiute’s elevation is 2800 feet, which assures temperatures averaging eight to 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the Las Vegas valley in the heat of the summer.

In promising green conditions, the maintenance team does perform fall aerification on each of the three courses.  However, the style of aerification instituted is less invasive and affords a clean, swept playing surface on each course. Additionally, the schedule is in rotation, which ensures all golfers playing at Paiute have two available, fully-recovered courses at any given time during aerification at the 54 hole, award-winning facility. The Paiute was voted the best Las Vegas golf course by the staff of the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2011.

As PGA Golf Professional and Paiute General Manager Chad Gunier said, “Being a Native Las Vegan, I was pleasantly surprised how close the resort is to my home.  And, I was equally impressed that the overall conditions – both temperature and playability – are not as affected by the city heat as one would think.  This is the place to play in Las Vegas, if you want quality golf, especially in August and September.” The resort is located about 25-30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.

Another added benefit for any golfers playing in August is the reduced greens fees.  Paiute’s exclusive GOLFaPalooza special rate begins at $119 and includes one replay, lunch in the clubhouse or on course, and 50 percent off rental clubs.  Additionally, golfers can receive 20 percent off current rates for multiple days played – savings is applied after the first round.  Standard primetime resort rates start at $89 with happy hour, twilight and super twilight rates available also.  For more information on Paiute’s playing conditions or rate options, call the facility directly at 800-711-2833 or visit realpuregolf.com.
