Las Vegas, Nevada (August 31, 2011)–Butch Harmon and David Feherty are at the top of their professions. But they both still find time to give back to good causes. Case in point: In Las Vegas on November 10-11, the two are teaming up with JMA Services to raise funds and awareness for the Troops First Foundation and Operation Front Door. This VIP Las Vegas charity golf tournament will be played at Las Vegas' Rio Secco Golf Club with other events also being held at Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. –By Brian Hurlburt.
Established in 2008 by Rick Kell and David Feherty, the Troops First Foundation develops, operates and supports a synergistic group of wellness and quality of life initiatives in support of today's military personnel. Operation Front Door is the Troops First Foundation's newest initiative. It is designed to match funds to assist veterans in purchasing a home. John and Kathy Manni, Founders of JM Adjustment (JMA), have committed to funding the first five homes of Operation Front Door.
Harmon operates the Butch Harmon School of Golf at Rio Secco Golf Club, and has a long history of supporting the U.S. Military. Each year Harmon hosts Harmon's Heroes, a golf school experience dedicated to wounded military. Harmon puts the event on for free and hosts the members to a VIP Las Vegas experience.
"Many of the troops supported by the Troops First Foundation are classified as disabled—but do not tell them that," says Manni. "These young men and women do not want to be treated any differently. They are not bitter, they do not complain, they just want a chance, and need a little help as they work to resume a normal life."
The event on November 10-11, 2011, includes a 2-night stay at the Paris Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, welcome cocktail party, practice round and 18-hole team competition at Rio Secco Golf Club, tee prizes and an awards luncheon. A number of troops will be present at this event, so you will have the opportunity to meet these young men and women who have served our country. Also, there will be an official online auction in support of the tournament that runs from November 1-11. You can find details at the official tournament website. Donated prizes are welcome.
