Las Vegas, Nevada (December 25, 2011)–It is the big day today, and Nick Watney looks ready to have another big year on the PGA Tour in 2012. Who knows what presents await on the Tour for him next year. Watney is listed at number 15 on the official PGATour.com Top 100 Player to Watch list for 2012. Watney was at the top of the FedEx Cup standings for much of 2011 and it could be argued he should be listed much higher on this "watch" list. –-By Brian Hurlburt.
Watney lives in the Las Vegas Golf Region, minutes from Las Vegas' Rio Secco Golf Club that is the home course of the Butch Harmon School of Golf. Harmon works with Watney among other big Tour names. Watney racked up top 10 finishes and wins in 2011 like kids get presents on Christmas.
"Watney was one of seven two-time winners last year — earning his first World Golf Championships title at the Cadillac Championship and capturing the AT&T National to bring his PGA TOUR total to four," writes Helen Ross at PGATour.com. " … The rest of 2011 wasn't shabby, either. Watney took the lead into the final round at Las Vegas only to finish second or it could have been a monster year. Not to mention, he opened the season with five straight top-10s and ended up with a career-high 10. He finished ninth in the FedExCup and earned more than $5.2 million to end up third on the money list — both also career-bests."
