Las Vegas, Nevada (December 24, 2011)–While PGA Tour star Adam Scott's time in Las Vegas was brief, he still remains a Vegas golfer in our hearts. Scott played college golf at UNLV before leaving early for the riches of the PGA Tour. And now entering the 2012 PGA Tour season, Scott is listed at number 11 on the official Top 100 Players to Watch List. In all, there are seven golfers with strong ties to Las Vegas golf courses on the list (with numbers 1-5 still to be announced). —By Brian Hurlburt

Scott was part of the Tiger Woods/Caddie Steve Williams sideshow in 2011 (Williams was fired by Woods and then hired by Scott). The story became front page news when Scott won the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in his first week with Williams on the bag. It was the 17th win on the PGA Tour for players who were a part of the legendary UNLV golf program. Scott played at UNLV in 1998 and 1999.

"The 31-year-old picked up his eighth PGA TOUR title that day at Firestone and posted top-10s in two major championships, including a tie for second at the Masters where the Aussie drought continues," writes Helen Ross at "With those he now has six top-10s in 43 major appearances. Scott finished the year with eight top-10s, second only to the 2006 campaign when Scott won the season-ending TOUR Championship and finished third on the money list. Four of those came in the six starts after Scott hired Williams, who clearly challenged his new boss. It will be interesting to see where this collaboration came go."

The others players on the Top 100 list with strong ties to Las Vegas golf courses were Charley Hoffman (43), Nick Watney (15), Ryan Moore (62), Bill Lunde (70), Scott Piercy (81), and Chad Campbell (85). Honorary Vegas Golfer Johnny Vegas is listed at 22nd.
