Las Vegas, Nevada (February 27, 2013)–Soon, the wait will be over. The organizers of Las Vegas' PGA Tour event, the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, have worked hard to become a part of the official FedEx Cup Playoffs system, and now the wait is over. Well, at least the wait will be over in October when the event tees off in the Las Vegas Golf Region as one of the first tournaments of the 2013-14 PGA Tour schedule. Click now for the official website of the Shriners Hospitals For Children Open where tickets will be on sale March 1. –By Brian Hurlburt with press release.
A total of $6 million dollars will be given away to the pros, and the winner will take home a million bucks. This will be the 31st-straight year that the PGA Tour plays in Las Vegas, and in year one the purse, in total, was $1 million. Now the champ will take that much home along with very valuable early season FedEx Cup Playoffs points. Finally, Las Vegas' PGA Tour event will have true meaning, and many more of the best players in the world should descend on the city that glitters to play, much as they did when the likes of Greg Norman, Curtis Strange, Paul Azinger and other big names won the tournament.
Tickets for Las Vegas’ official PGA TOUR event, Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, will go on sale on Friday, March 1. Now part of the FedExCup regular season, the weeklong charitable tournament is held Oct. 14-20 at the masterfully designed TPC Summerlin, where guests escape into an oasis situated within the natural desert and surrounded by the Las Vegas skyline and Red Rock mountains.
