Las Vegas, Nevada (December 2, 2013)–Joe Massanova is one of those guys. The type that is always thinking and developing strategies to make his business better. And at the heart of being "better" for Massanova, the Director of Business Development at TPC Las Vegas, is ensuring that his course–one of two PGA Tour-owned layouts in Las Vegas–serves all golfers with the highest standards. Massanova, who left TPC Las Vegas in January of 2008 to take over national group sales operations for the TPC/PGA Tour network, is thrilled to be back at a course and in a city that he loves. –By Brian Hurlburt.
"It's wonderful to be back in Las Vegas," says Massanova, while overlooking the beautiful 18th hole at TPC Las Vegas, a former host course for events on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. "And it's a privilege to work in such a dynamic environment that is the center of hospitality and tourism in the United States, if not the world. The high-level of our hospitality industry in Las Vegas provides me the opportunity to work with quality people and world-class resorts, and that isn't an opportunity that you can get anywhere else. And I plan to take full advantage of this opportunity."
TPC Las Vegas is known as the home of professional golf in Las Vegas. Not only was it a host site of the PGA Tour and Champions Tour, but it is also the home course for several PGA Tour pros who live in the Las Vegas Golf Region. You never know who you will see roaming the fairways and greens of TPC Las Vegas. Besides his stint at a national level with the TPC network (a large group of courses located around the country that are owned and operated by the PGA Tour), Massanova spent time in the Philadelphia areaselling Harley-Davidson motorcycles, working in corporate catering sales in addition to marketing a nightclub. Massanova believes his varying experiences give him some new insights into his position at TPC Las Vegas. And in his efforts of helping to sell the TPC Las Vegas as a top golf experience.
"My goal is to position TPC Las Vegas as the number one golf experience in this area," says Massanova, who was named the Marketing Director of the Year for PGA Tour properties in 2004 and 2005. "Being a PGA Tour course gives us advantages that no other courses in the area have, and that allows us to offer an incredible experience and terrific conditions on a daily basis. I also want to work in conjunction with other key course and resort management to better our destination by providing a quality experience. It's vital that we all produce a great customer experience. We strongly believe we do that at TPC Las Vegas. But I also believe that the better the overall golf product is in Las Vegas, the better it is for everyone."
Massanova's passion for all things TPC Las Vegas and the city shows through when asked about what his favorite moment of his 4+ overall years at the course is: "Every day is my favorite moment. Every day I see thrilled guests loving the chance to play our course is a favorite moment. Every day I look out at how beautiful our course is, and how lucky I am to be here is a favorite moment. Every day we work with our industry partners to bring business to Las Vegas is a favorite moment. I have been fortunate to have many favorite moments over the years and I look forward piling on more in 2014."
