That's right, with every green fee purchased by a local resident, that golfer will receive one free ticket to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, the Vegas PGA TOUR event that has been here for more than 30 years. TPC Las Vegas is a previous host course for the tournament which is now played solely at TPC Summerlin, the private, sister course to TPC Las Vegas. The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is to be played October 15-19, 2014, and is one of the first events of the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season. It is a full points Fed Ex Cup tournament and players will be playing in the event to get a jump start on winning the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs for next season.

In two of the previous three years, the tournament has had a local champion who plays and practices at TPC Las Vegas. In 2011, Kevin Na became the first Las Vegas resident to win the hometown event and in 2012 Ryan Moore, a former UNLV All-American, made it two-straight wins for locals. Last year, major champion Webb Simpson took home the title and ended the two-year local streak. He is scheduled to defend his championship.

TPC Las Vegas is known as the home to professional golf in Las Vegas because it not only hosted the PGA TOUR event for several years, but it was also the host course of the Las Vegas Senior Classic, a Senior PGA TOUR event. In addition, several pros with strong local ties, like Na and Moore, play and practice at the course when they aren't on Tour. In 2014, the theme of the Las Vegas PGA TOUR event is "What's your tradition?Fans are being asked to share what their favorite tradition is when they attend the PGA TOUR event. With its long history, kids have grown up attending it, volunteers have formed deep bonds, and many charities have been helped by the tournament organizers.
