Las Vegas, Nevada (October 23, 2014)–TPC Las Vegas is known as a previous host of tournaments on both the PGA TOUR and Champions PGA TOUR in addition to being the home of professional golf in Las Vegas because several local TOUR pros regularly play and practice at the course. What the course might not be known as much for is how it makes a positive impact on the Las Vegas community. The staff and management at TPC Las Vegas are dedicated to making a difference and do so in many ways including hosting several charity events annually, supporting the PGA TOUR's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, helping raise funds for The First Tee of Southern Nevada, and creating other ways to make a difference. –By Brian Hurlburt.

TPC Las Vegas is one of two PGA TOUR-owned and operated golf courses in Las Vegas. The TPC name (short for Tournament Players Club) brings with it a certain cache that elevates the golf experience at the resort to another level. Thousands from around the world flock to the play the course, but behind the scenes, TPC Las Vegas leaders share the same mission as the PGA TOUR of giving back and helping people and organizations.

"Giving Back is the 'Heart of the PGA TOUR' and as a PGA TOUR property, the TPC Las Vegas is privileged to be able to give back and help so many worthy causes," says Joe Massanova, Director of Development at TPC Las Vegas. " Whether it is supporting the Shriner's Hosiptals for Children Open, our military heroes, or simply donating rounds of golf to various local charities, the TPC Las Vegas is just not another Summerlin golf course; we are a part of the social fabric that makes Summerlin one of the best communities in the country."

One of the many charitable highlights for TPC Las Vegas in 2014 was working directly with Las Vegas' PGA TOUR event to create a major ticket sales promotion. The ongoing effort over the summer resulted in sales of more than $10,000. Those sales directly impacted the bottom line of the Shriners Hosptials for Children Open. The tourrnament supports the efforts of the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children where more than a million kids have been provided free medical care over the years.

"Partner involvement and support throughout the year is key to our growth as a community focused event," says Shriners Hospitals for Children Open Tournament Director Adam Sperling. "To have a relationship such as we do with TPC Las Vegas not only helps spread the word about our event and our mission, but also raises significant funds. The promotional opportunities they provide at their property helps us reach a key demographic while raising awareness and funds."

TPC Las Vegas annually hosts events benefiting the Birdies for the Brave and co-hosts an event with TPC Summerlin to honor and raise awareness and funding for military veterans. This year the event featured a special appearance by Joseph Maguire, Vice Admiral, U.S. Navy (ret). He is the founder of the Special Operations Warriors Foundation that pays all costs for the children of fallen military personnel to attend college. Maguire was also the leader of the NAVY Seals for several years. His organization is supported by Birdies for the Brave.

A PGA TOUR Charities, Inc. program, Birdies for the Brave is a military outreach initiative proudly supported by the PGA TOUR that is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Since 2006, the TOUR has joined with PGA TOUR players and corporate partners to raise millions of dollars for military homefront groups that provide critical programs and services to meet the specialized needs of male and female wounded warriors as well as military families that served both pre and post 9/11.
