Las Vegas, Nevada (October 27, 2014)–The Nevada Open has been played for four decades and is contested in the golf destination of Mesquite, Nevada, which is located about 77 miles north of Las Vegas. In 2014, a potential purse of $105,000 (based on a full field of 205 players) will be on the line for professionals. The tournament is Nov 11-13, 2014, and will be played at Casablanca and The Palms golf courses. Entry fee is $450 for Southern Nevada PGA of America professionals and $500 for visiting PGA of America professionals and $725 for non-affiliated professionals. Amateurs can enter for $350. Jeff Rangel from Martinez, Calif. won the event in 2013 and earned a first-prize of $20,000. Amateur and former UNLV golfer Kevin Penner won the event as an amateur in 2012. The Cal Olsen-designed CasaBlanca Golf Club lies etched into the wetlands of the Virgin Valley. This beautiful course winds in and out of the Virgin River basin offering a challenging course with a scenic landscape. The golf course offers five sets of tees allowing golfers of all abilities an exciting golf experience. The 18 hole par 72 championship course plays to a total of 7,036 yard from the tips.

The Palms championship course features two distinct nines. The front nine presents wide fairways and large water features accented with mature palm trees. The back nine offers a thrill ride of elevated tee boxes and places a premium on shot making. The 15th hole has fantastic view of the Virgin River Valley and a chance to let the big dog eat. The Palms plays to 6,804 yards from the tips and is a par 72 course.

Among the winners of the Nevada Open over the years are Tom Lehman, Robert Gamez, and Vic Wilk. Other notables who have played in the tournament include Craig Barlow and Jay Don Blake among others.
