Nicklaus, who has designed around 400 courses worldwide, designed one of his most unique layouts in Bear’s Best. The course, which stretches out to nearly 7,200 yards, features holes re-created from courses such as PGA West (California), Old Works (Montana), Desert Mountain (Arizona), Castle Pines (Colorado) and others. And they can play them all while still having the famed Las Vegas Strip in the background.
The packages, which run through June 30, 2015, include a round of golf at Bear’s Best and three days/two nights at a hotel/casino. Players can choose either The Orleans, just off the Strip, or Treasure Island, in the center of the action on the Strip. At The Orleans, prices are $149 for Sunday-Thursday dates and $199 for Friday and Saturday dates. At Treasure Island, prices are $199 for Sunday-Thursday and $249 for Friday and Saturday.
From start to finish, Bear’s Best will challenge players. And it’s the opening and closing holes that will leave lasting impressions. The opener, from PGA West’s Private Course, is a 413-yard, par-4 with a pond along the left side. The slightly elevated tee gives players an impressive view of the hole.
Then there’s the finale, the 463-yard, par-4 hole from PGA West’s Resort Course. Water runs along the entire right side of the hole with the green perched precariously close to the water. Between those two holes, players will find winding fairways, brilliant white-sand bunkers (except on the 4th and 11th holes which have the black-sand bunkering from Anaconda’s Old Works Golf Course), dramatic elevation changes and a golf course that will test players’ nerves and shotmaking skills.
So if you’re looking for that three-day jaunt to Las Vegas, The Bear’s Best Getaway will definitely fit the bill. And for a look at some of the other outstanding golf courses and packages in and around Las Vegas, check out LasVegasGolfInsider.com.
