Wanted: Las Vegas PGA TOUR Event is Seeking Volunteers

Las Vegas, Nev. (April 22, 2016)—The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, the Las Vegas PGA TOUR event, is looking for a few good men, women and kids to volunteer to help out with the tournament, scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 6 at TPC Summerlin. This is your chance to get up close and personal with some of the best golfers in the world while helping a wonderful cause. –By Bill Bowman.

The defending champion of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is Smylie Kaufman. Each year, about a dozen pros with ties to Las Vegas tee it up in addition to some of the biggest names in golf. In 2015 both Rickie Fowler and Davis Love III played in Las Vegas.

Volunteer opportunities include admissions, standard bearers, caddie services, walking scorers, shotlink operators and more. Whether you are a golf fan or looking to support the mission of the Shriners Hospitals for Children, the options are endless to give back and volunteer for a cause that impacts the lives of children across the nation every day.

Returning or new volunteers will receive an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party, a week-long tournament access badge, a commemorative gift, meals during shifts and a uniform including a tournament golf shirt, jacket and hat. Volunteers can also select an upgraded package that includes a straw hat in place of a ball cap for an additional $10.

Those interested in volunteering can take advantage of an early-bird discount, with volunteer registration fees as low as $65 until June 30. Fees will increase by $5 beginning July 1. This fee helps to defray the tournament’s costs associated with each volunteer. The tournament is operated as a 501(c)3 charity and every available dollar is dedicated to our mission of raising awareness and money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Individuals can register online or contact Donna Millwood at dmillwood@shrinershospitalsopen.com.
