Las Vegas, Nev. (Sept. 5, 2016)–LPGA Tour star Natalie Gulbis believes in giving back to the community. And that community is located right here in Las Vegas where Gulbis has lived and practiced–and given back–for the past 10-plus years. And this year, 2016, is no different. The Natalie Gulbis Golf Classic returns this fall for the 7th annual tournament. It will be held Nov. 21, 2016, at Rio Secco Golf Club in Henderson. — By Bill Bowman.
Gulbis knows all about the Boys & Girls Clubs as she has her name on one in Las Vegas. It’s an honor she is proud of and she has made giving back part of her career since day one
“Over the last few years where I spend my time has shifted to more of a charity focus and many of my business calls are about the Boys and Girls Club,” she told golf writer Brian Hurlburt in an interview. “I always enjoy going to a Club, but when you have a club that has your name attached to it, they get extra excited because they see that name on the wall and they know that person is helping their club and continuing to donate to help them.”
The tournament, presented by Cox Communications, will benefit the 22,000-plus kids associated with the 14 Boys & Girls Clubs as well as summer programs in Southern Nevada.
The tournament has sponsorship opportunities including: presenting sponsor ($10,000), eagle sponsor ($7,500), birdie sponsor ($5,000), par sponsor ($3,000), foursome sponsor ($2,000) and hole sponsor ($500).
Cost to play in the event is $500 per player and includes: green fees, cart, breakfast and lunch, hole-in-one contest, long drive contest, putting contest, auction, awards reception, complimentary beverages and a goody bag. There will also be a clinic by Gulbis at 10:30 a.m. before the 11 a.m. shotgun start.
Rio Secco is home to the Butch Harmon School of Golf and Gulbis is one of Harmon’s students along with players like Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker and other top stars of the game.
Rio Secco, a Rees Jones designed course, is a par-72 course that reaches 7,313 yards from the tips. It is also the sister course to Cascata, another Jones layout.
