Jack Nicklaus Vegas Course is Worth the Drive

Categories: Las Vegas Hot Pick of the Day.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Jan. 26, 2017)–Let’s face it: With more than 50 golf courses in Las Vegas to choose from, there has to be a good reason to drive a little out of the city to tee it up. Well, we’ve got two words for you: Jack Nicklaus. Located about 50 minutes north of Las Vegas is one of Jack’s newest endeavors, Coyote Springs Golf Club— By Bill Bowman.

If you’ve played Coyote Springs, which opened in 2008, chances are you’ve been back. If you haven’t made the trip, what are you waiting for? It’s a Nicklaus experience that defies description, but we’ll try anyway.

The par-72 course plays a knee-knocking 7471 yards from the tips. With that length, it’s all the golf course any player can want to tackle. But don’t worry, with six sets of tees it’s playable by everyone.

Then, add in rolling fairways everywhere (try to find a completely level lie…we dare you), classic water features (on 11 of the holes) and immaculate bunkering (more than 100 stand guard around the landing areas and greens) and you’ve got a golf course that is both gorgeous and challenging.

But, let’s get back to the drive to the course. After an hour in the car, chances are you’re going to be a little stiff…and maybe hungry. Well, the restaurant on site can whip up breakfast or lunch before the round. Then it’s a trip to the massive practice facility (more than 100,000 sqaure feet that features 13 target greens). Add in a 10,000-square-foot putting green and you’ll be ready to take on the challenge.

On the course it’s a round of golf that will test players’ accuracy, shot-making skills and putting prowess. Two of the dynamic holes are the 9th and 18th, mirror-image par 4s that share a deep-blue pond between them with downhill approach shots to large, receptive greens. These are two outstanding holes to finish each nine and will reward good shots with chances to finish with a birdie or two.
